In January 2017, we were proud to unveil our new commercial laundry. Moving from our Southtown laundry, which had served us well for more than 100 years, to a new modern facility on the Harfreys Industrial Estate. Three years in development, and with an investment of £5 million, our new site is one of the most technically advanced and environmentally friendly laundry facilities in the UK, processing up to 500,000 pieces of linen every week.

Camplings has a proud history as a family run laundry going back well over 100 years . The company was established as Dyers and French Cleaners about 1870 with premises in King Street, Gt Yarmouth. These premises were soon outgrown and at the turn of the 20th century, Camplings moved to purpose built laundry, with dye works, carpet cleaning and dry cleaning, in Southtown.
The laundry emphasis has changed continually with the requirements of the times. The trade until the 1950's was in family bundles and work from local hotels and boarding houses together with services to all the local hospitals. During the war much work was done for the armed forces. This sufficed in the short term but for the future the company embarked on entering the emerging market in workwear rental and Linen Hire. The workwear service was established in the early 1960's and the first linen hire customer obtained in November 1972. Both services rapidly expanded and today Camplings is predominantly a Linen and workwear rental operation, with a customer base covering all Norfolk and Suffolk.
The Camplings name originates from the original family who started the business. Mr Campling was a well known Yarmouth businessman with many interests in the Borough. He was a town councillor and for a period was elected Mayor. Following his death, the company was run by his executors until 1947, when it was purchased by John Kerrison, whose family had been established in Norfolk for many centuries. His son, Peter Kerrison, joined the business in 1958 who brought about the changes required to ensure the company's future as a leading linen supply company in East Anglia. On his retirement in 2004,control passed to the Turvill family, owners of The Swiss Laundry in Cambridge, a very successful and similar family run linen rental and dry cleaning enterprise covering the whole of East Anglia.

On 24 January 2017, we unveiled our new £5 million commercial laundry in Great Yarmouth, becoming one of the most technically advanced and environmentally friendly laundry facilities in the UK.
And on the day, we were delighted to be joined by ITV Anglia News.
Their crew visited the new facility to film behind the scenes and interview Camplings Linen employees, finding out how the investment would enable us to continue delivering a first-class linen hire and laundry service to all our customers.

The quality and speed of your service is second to none. Your drivers are always first class and were not put off in anyway when we were having major refurbishments happening to the rear of the hotel where we store our laundry.

Using Campling's has been a breath of fresh air after using a company that provided a consistent poor standard.
From my first meeting with Tim he was very clear about the products supplied, their standard protocols at the Factory and delivery.
From the time we swapped over my Housekeepers are so much calmer as the standard of stock has risen and the rejects are non existent now.
You may pay a little more than other companies but in my opinion standard is worth every penny and Tim is very helpful and personally inducts your housekeeping team on installation day making the whole process seem effortless.
Changing to Campling's will make a huge difference as it has to our team.
Having now worked with the Camplings team over the last 15 months, I would like to say I have found all members of the team in all the departments I have had to liaise with, extremely helpful, responsive and keen to help.
Deliveries have been on time, the quality good and where issues have been found a quick and easy solution has been organised. Tracy has worked with us as a new company to find the right levels of linens required, we have been supported when we have got it wrong and also helped out at last minute to rectify these mistakes. You have worked with us to ensure that the price is right and manageable and are always willing to discuss any matters that crop up at a moments’ notice.
Campling’s have been our Sole Laundry Partner since 2010; when after a considerable benchmarking exercise assessing them against 3 other Laundry Suppliers, we awarded them an initial 3 year contract. Since then we have found them to be an excellent trading partner, both in the exceptional quality of their products, but equally important their service delivery.
All In All we find Campling’s Laundry to be a Reliable & Flexible Trading Partner; one whose own visions & values match our own; consequently I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending them to any potential customer.

It is with great sadness that I am giving you three months written notice to terminate our contract. The reason for this has nothing to do with the service that you have provided, David and I are simply going to be moving on to pastures new.
Our final working day here will be Wednesday 13th May 2015.
I would like to have it put on file how happy we have been with the service provided by Camplings from Day One. You were incredibly helpful on our initial meeting and have always been on hand to answer any questions that I may have. The quality of the linen has been great and often gets commented on by our guests and the customer service that we receive from all of your staff members has been great.

Camplings Linen and it's parent company The Swiss Laundry Ltd recognise the responsibilities and social duties it has to look after the environment, its staff, customers, neighbours and community.
We are committed to policies that minimise the adverse impact of our activities and aim to deliver on this promise in all parts of our operations. To ensure the effective implementation of this policy, we have given clear responsibilities and accountabilities to our executive directors against which they are measured.
What we're doing and what we've done?
We believe actions speak louder than words and so here is a summary of what we’ve done.
Laundries are heavy users of energy to heat water and iron linen. Modern equipment is energy efficient and we are committed to continue investing.
80% of machinery is less than 5 years old
We aim to replace our vehicles every 5 years and have been purchasing euro 6 classification ahead of the legal requirements.
We have invested over £5m in our new Laundry facility in Gt. Yarmouth and have plans for further investment for our Cambridge operation
We maintain our buildings and surroundings with our own permanent staff
Our board is prepared to make long term decisions and will continue to consider the wider effect of business decisions
Our business is all about restoring linen to a reusable quality. It is our core activity and a philosophy we run throughout the organisation
Our washing machines recycle water and through heat recovery systems, only cold water leaves our site
Our driers are designed to finish at the optimum moisture content level
Our packaging is constantly under review and excess is retained and re-cycled
We have halved our equivalent water consumption through our investment in our new plant
Our ambition is to have zero waste to groundfill
We re-use heat energy and circulate exhaust energy back into our process
Our investment in a new facility in 2016 means we use 1/3 less energy per kilo of laundry washed
We carefully plan our distribution and monitor vehicle fuel economy
We promote the concept of 'Linen Miles' and focus on Customers within 1 hour from our sites
We have signed up to an energy monitoring scheme whereby we are judged on a programme of continuous improvement against a base year of 2008
